I had a similar reaction to the rhythm section in this album to the first time I heard Mastodon's "Leviathan". Meaning I crapped my pants. It's not easy to find a drummer that brings color and texture to the surrounding aggression of a metal record, and I now place Tracy on the Mantle of Gods for modern metal

Bananas is a good, strong word that needs a comeback. Plus, when it comes to Tracy's drumming, there is no more appropriate description. Dude can flat play.

I would like to thank Deafheaven drummer Dan Tracy for blowing my brain out of the back of my skull for nearly a full hour. His performance in this album is straight bananas.

It's like bubble gum pop. If bubble gum was filled with shards of glass. And was magical.
