yep, the Rothstein story would make for some great TV… I'd also like to see them make an episode in the past (like the infamous "incest episode") that shows why Luciano and Lansky are so loyal to each other and/or why Luciano broke away from Maseria to work with the Jewish gangsters

Remember though what Nucky told Eli, about always wanting more and "look where it's gotten us". And he seems to want to get out of the spotlight, so it's probably not a good time to become "the biggest bootlegger in the country". That's why I don't think it's completely unlikely that he would let go of the brewery

Also, Rothstein was familiar with the distillery, so he knows how much booze it can make, and he's probably tried to figure out a way to obtain it in the past. Plus, Nucky's in a war, Rothstein knows that without his intervention, Nucky could get killed at any moment, kinda hard to make a deal with a dead guy

I think the reasoning behind the killing of Maseria's men is going to become more obvious next season. My guess: next season is gonna see a shift of power from New York to Capone's Chicago.
