I will agree that box office receipts and CinemaScore are what drives the narrative on the quality of a movie. Even if a movie is critically panned across the board, if it gets a high CinemaScore, for some reason it's considered a success by the media.

For some reason, the Space Ghost episode that I always recall is the one where they go to the grocery store. I loved the hell out of this show, but the new Adult Swim shows do nothing for me.

One thing about the show that I find confusing is…are we supposed to take Hannah's writing ambitions seriously? We never see her read, discussing literature, submitting work to journals, and despite living in NYC, she needed to be convinced to give a reading.

I think last week's episode perfectly encapsulated the mission statement of the show. Advertising and pop culture are constructed to put a slick, enticing face on an economic engine that requires war, destruction, and environmental damage to continue churning. When Don Draper wants something, despite his sharp suit

I don't find this to be true for me. I'm a writer and so I'm constantly listening to new stuff, reading debut writers, etc. because I need to be exposed to as much potential inspiration as possible. I'm not going to become as culturally stagnant as my friends who have "settled" in life.

Being a Steelers fan, I don't hate the Ravens. I respect the Ravens because they are built to win the AFC North: ferocious defense, punishing runners, and timely QB play.

Golden age for who, exactly? I am rather sick of comic book adaptations. There's already a reboot of a movie franchise that's barely ten years old.

Whenever this movie is referenced, I count how many seconds until the comment "Holy mother was she hot in that movie…" is spoken. Usually, this is how the subject of Buffalo 66 comes up anyway…

You think formulaic, mediocre crime investigation isn't terrible? Bolaño's "The Skating Rink" is a masterful crime procedural. The Law & Orders and CSIs of the world are serialized tripe.

This episode contained a problem of purpose. They parodied terrible television writing. So what? To what end did it help develop the characters or expose something new about the world of Greendale? This script needed more revisions.

What meets my standards for non-whiteness? I read mostly world literature, so I read about all kinds of perspectives.

I misread the sentence. My mistake. Coincidentally, I do enjoy that Richard Yates gets a shout out.

Mad Men is the greatest show on television? I'm sorry, Breaking Bad is the only current show that I would say rises to the level of art.

I agree with most of the comments here. If you grew up in a small town in the 90s, this was a kind of alternate reality where teens with a niche hobby (and in the 90s, that's what computers were) who were gifted could be fun and hip and go to a nice school in a big city.
