I liked the pilot more than I expected to.  But I disliked the second episode.  I absolutely hate the trope of clueless Buddhists.  I guess this is a commonplace California thing, maybe?  But really, calling Tibet to get permission to put the Dalai Lama's face on napkins?  Come on!  That entire trope made me want to

That's helpful, thanks.  But didn't Ike, in his first exchange with Meg, say he wanted her to buy out his partner?

I'm confused — how can Ike sell Ben's share of the hotel to Meg, if Ben doesn't want to sell?

Totally agree.  I assumed that the whole thing was a scam, which was the only way to get through this terrible story line.

I love Sullivan's Travels so much that every time I see Gulliver's Travels listed in the cable guide I have a moment of joy, then remember that I have no interest in Jack Black as Gulliver.  So glad that this time it really IS Joel McCrea as Sullivan.  Gotta love any film that name-checks *Lubitsch.*

Yeah, but kind of hard to tell, as there was so little in the way of design or clothes.

Yep.  Mention Malik snitching as much as you like.

You do understand that removing your penis doesn't make you a woman, right?

Not to mention that the two Brit actors were clearly hot for each other.

Steve was a lot easier to like in the original when he was, you know, James McAvoy!

Larry Gilliard was so good on The Wire, yet he seems to have gotten the smallest career boost, so I was very glad to see his name in the opening credits.  I was hoping that they weren't going the obvious route of  having him play a drug dealer.  So I particular enjoyed the little trick they played at the end, making

I've always been puzzled by how often tv characters say their own last names.  "We're Bravermans, and Bravermans do X!"

I assumed he was in Rome to be elevated to Cardinal.

Danes has pretty good chemistry with Ferguson, too.  After an appearance of hers on LLS, they booked her father-in-law (or was it her brother-in-law), a philosopher.

Is anybody here familiar with Auntie Mame?  Young Patrick Dennis could have been sent through a time machine and ended up as Charlie.  Identical performances, more than fifty years apart.

My older sister and I used to dress up our younger brother, too.  And, like Luke, we gave "her" a name.
