I first heard of fulminated mercury (although it sounded like fulminate of mercury) in the movie Mister Roberts which, coincidently?, was on TCM on Sunday night.

The naysayers in this film reminded me of the coaches in Moneyball who advocated drafting players using the conventional wisdom — a player with a not-beautiful girlfriend lacked confidence, for example.

Because she's married to Hackford?

I want to know more about Crazy Eyes's back story!

I'm fascinated by ANYTHING to do with the work and social world of Bletchley Park.

I suppose I do.  Good call.

I was surprised that no one was sent to Rome.  When the talk is of European fashion capitals, how do you not think ROME?  Maybe that's where Michelle would have gone if she didn't require punishment.

How on earth does Richard NOT know how to do a French seam?  It's time-consuming, but a pretty basic skill.

Surely this wasn't Shirley Jones's first experience with words like "bubbeleh."  Marty Ingels, her husband since 1977, is Jewish.

What, NO reasonable discussions about the titular decoy wearing RAYLAN'S HAT???

Captain/Major Tony Nelson, RIP

Bad, but . . . justified.

I was watching for the Go Bag last night, too.  But I'm sure it will turn up by the end of the season.  Either Bob will be even better with it, or will die with it.  Probably both.

I love that Laurie, like Walter Sobchak, doesn't roll on Shabbat.

"Robin has a lively, honest bounce to her."  Is that a Robin Lively joke?

"Jimmy is using typical playboy or operator moves."

And, to clarify, Tobolowsky was talking about the Broadway production of Henley's SECOND play, not Crimes of the Heart.

Turner Classic Movies ran Bell, Book and Candle over the weekend.  Is ASP crazy enough to check out their schedule in advance?  I believe so.

So, Amanda's brother is in Maroon 5.  THAT's the standard she has to live up to?

Sure, but in a lifetime of watching British period drama, I have heard this practice used exactly twice.  GP and DA.
