I think simmons is pretty innovative and ahead of the curve with a lot of things (internet sportswriting, joining sports/pop culture, podcasting) but when everyone catches up he is no longer the best at what he does.  Plus it doesn't help that he rarely writes anymore, and he constantly references things nobody cares…
