Haaaa, totally.
Haaaa, totally.
zackly.
The concept is fine. It's just that in real life, I'm pretty sure I've never heard someone say "Just to play devil's advocate" where the followup isn't assholery. It's in the same category as "I'm not racist, but…" - you COULD say something that's not racist after that, but no one ever does.
Ohhhh, wait, I see the miscommunication here: the problem is that you're an asshole.
No, yeah, your example is good - "Is prostitution cool" - I think that's a great issue for debate. That debate is alive now. It's just the obvious ones, that's all I'm suggesting. Women voting, sure. Or like, there are people who want to debate evolution but that debate is over; there's no point in rehashing it just…
I don't think we have a disagreement here, dude. We seem to be talking about different comments.
side note: people who say they're playing "Devil's advocate" are always, always being assholes. 100% of the time, if the phrase "devil's advocate" comes out of your mouth you are about to be an asshole.
"You need opposite points of view to keep yourself honest and clear-headed."
HEY EVERYBODY, IT'S A WHITE GUY
Well, now I'm just wishing I could be a judge at an outrage contest.
It's close enough, you pedant.
WHAT OTHER BAD EVIL WORDS

a) this isn't really the book that shocked the world so much as the book that the world thought was okay for summer reading
b) that song sucks
c) why is the prime minister of Canada in this movie
ps his name is Nothing's Shocking because that album seriously saved my life in high school
As a new parent, I appreciate each and every one of these comments.
What's with all the commenters who don't see how this is offensive? Are y'all from some other website?
It shows enough of it.
Yep. I approve of all these decisions.
This book sucks.
