You are absolutely right, I don't love how that came out. In my head, Community represents what you've eloquently put, I sort of muddled that example.
Yeah I don't live the flippant orphaning of two children
This was the highlight of the episode for me
Hello! I've seen all of The League multiple times (although I'm not really going to respond to your other, pretty clearly inflammatory personal inquiries), and I found this episode to be horrifically frustrating, mismanaged, miscalculated, and lazy. "Paying off properly" is pretty much the thesis of comedy —…
Yeah there's always that little fear of "am I tired? Did I watch it hungry? Am I in a bad mood?" But I've watched it four or five times now and I just can not engage with it. It's so frustrating- I love enjoying my shows !
But I didn't find it funny? You're right: On a personal level, they were not the tone or type of jokes I come to an episode of The League expecting to see. But I'm not overly stuffy as a person, if the jokes were funny then they'd be funny. I didn't think they were funny.
Oh my god I'm seriously embarrassed—I've never seen it spelled I always assumed it was "Brandon"! Should be fixed now.
oh, by the way I *am* the reviewer! Sorry I don't know why my normal AV Club acct posts as my personal one
Thank you and fixed!!
I googled to be sure since I only ever heard them call themselves Chinese-American, but Eddie Huang has referred to himself (in context of the show) as Taiwanese-Chinese-American
I'm so embarrassed I forgot to include a shout out to The Mask joke! I laughed like a goddamn hyena alone in my living room.
Am I too harsh in feeling like they kept everything too surface level? I just wanted that ONE MORE LINE from each of them really crystallizing why they are the way they are.
Constance Wu is a force of nature and I hope to never have to meet her and reveal myself to be a quivering pile of fan jelly.
Thank you!
A kid in my class senior year loved WingStop so much he convinced them to unofficially cater our senior prom. I will forever be loyal to WingStop
my reply below may touch a little on this!
I think I'd say I'm somewhere between "very aware of" and "a mild fan of" football — I somehow manage to stay abreast of all big/injury related news and players' general presences or personas in the public eye, and I watch about 40-60% of NFL games depending on the year and access to cable. I followed college football…
Hey there! Definitely correct when it comes to me not knowing in depth football knowledge, however I assure you the Seahawks "bit" was not lost on me and by my grade I assume you can tell I enjoyed the episode very much. I also happen to know the rules about the draft but still find the giant, doomsday, Bond-esque…
Aselton and Lajoie continue to confound me with how young they always look. It's not even a sexual thing to me just biologically intriguing.
