Agreed. He's fabulous on Community but dear god, he was definitely the worst and unfunniest person in this movie. Granted, he wasn't given a lot to work with as his character wasn't featured much, but still.

In an interview with Alison Brie with Joel Mchale a few months ago Alison said that they weren't sure if they were going to get a season 4, so they tried to make the finale one that tied up loose ends but also one that would untie those threads with a loose tug (I'm paraphrasing).
