I'll grant you a stronger political metaphor and even better technique, but I thought 28 Days Later was about a thousand times more exciting and engaging. I found the sequel way too heavy handed and sort of a snooze, actually.
Aw, I used to watch Superbook all the time on TBN, in my distant evangelical past. I can't believe that show is still on, but now I almost want to go watch it again. Knowing it's Japanese really explains a lot for me!

frankly, the people standing around staring dead-eyed at the stage ruin the show more for me than these guys ever could. at least they're showing some appreciation for what they're hearing.

…But being a little formulaic or derivative can help a show as well as hurt it (see above!), so I still have hope. Izzard's stand-up's a little inconsistent, like above commenters said, but there's a world of difference between stand-up and television acting. Hope!
