I would wager most Vancouverites in media production would settle for the 2000s, although admittedly existing in a time before our city was responsible for the unleashing of Nickleback is very tempting.

People who work in the Vancouver TV industry are, but that's only because our industry is in freefall and the lack of projects this year is pretty much going to devastate the workforce. It doesn't change the fact that it's a terrible show.

QT's character in the movie really had the worst Australian accent I think I've ever heard, worse than Meryl Streep or James Mason by miles. What was he thinking? More pointedly, what did John Jarratt think when he saw Tarantino's performance I wonder? Probably didn't have the heart to tell him.

Respectfully agree to disagree then :). Bless the AV Club for civil discourse. Outside of that surprising shitstorm on the first few "Girls" reviews, this site truly is one of the rare places on the net where you can have a conversation and not be confronted by relentless childishness or a bunch of self-satisfied

My apologies if I inferred any level of inexperience with the tropes of horror films, not my intention to question your knowledge. My point it that really the makers of Wolf Creek just took the idea of a crazy Australian hillbilly killing tourists, that's about as much as the movie had in common with the Ivan Milat

A lot of teenagers go through this phase, where somehow seeing the goriest, most messed up films and being able to "take it" somehow validates your masculinity. I was certainly one of them. Luckily I was over it by the time "A Serbian Film" came out because fuck watching something like that.

Golly gosh I had real problems with "Snowtown". The endless scenes of people eating, the elliptical editing that totally undercut what would have been a fascinating descent into horror and the empty performance by the lead all totally wore me out. There were some great things in the movie, Daniel Henshell was

This movie is "Based on a True Story" the same way "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is, ie not at all. It's just for marketing. There was a male UK tourist who got murdered in the outback a few years before the movie came out, as well as the dreadful crimes of Ivan Milat (look him up if you want your day ruined) and the

I really couldn't stand how gratingly unsubtle everything was in this movie. It suffered from the same problem I feel "Sophie's Choice" does, where there's a compelling story, which is straight up choked to death with over-direction and unnecessary story choices.
