I have to say, this is one of those rare movies that somehow manages to feel a hell of a lot longer to watch than the source material did to read. You gotta hand it to Gilliam for nailing the 'spirit' of the book, but after an hour or so it's just impossible to care about the action any longer.
His best theory is that Jack meeting the woman in the bath is all in Danny's head. The editing and aftermath of that scene makes much more sense interpreted that way than the surface text does.

Why is the AV Club even writing about her? She sells well in the UK thanks to relentless marketing (and a baffling presence at both the opening AND closing Olympic ceremonies) but she's a vanilla as a musician can get.
