Ozu's 1935 silent film An Inn in Tokyo could also make a nice addition. Hits a lot of the same notes as the later Italian Neo-Realist pictures. But, you know, about Japan in the '30s.

I third this recommendation. Not just because I happen to work there, but because the programming is actually that awesome. This quarter, you can get your A-G (is this a real term?) fix on Mondays with the Stan Brakhage series.

The To Kill a Mocking Bird one is called "Passage a l'acte". One of my favorites.
