I love that Korra's relationship with the airkids has advanced to the point where she can treat them like obnoxious siblings. I had 3 younger sisters growing up, and I just about died when Korra told Ikki to get lost after Ikki dropped the "Korra likes Mako" bomb.

Me either, but that completely makes sense.

@avclub-bbb04f2a70775131fa0397bbdb4c03de:disqus I just remembered that I was actually in high school in 1996, so I now feel even older. Also, apparently I was still watching the Disney Channel, so I feel like a loser.

That's an interesting theory. Their uselessness definitely reached, "Oh come on! Really?" levels this episode.

It would have been really hard to deliver an Avatar State smackdown under those circumstances without a fuckton of collateral damage. When Roku destroyed his own temple, the people inside barely got out alive.

Yeah, and a quick response to Emily's comment about electricity: there's a difference between being struck by lightning and being hit by a Tazer. I assume that even firebenders have at least a modicum of control over the juice they're putting out. The reason Azula and Ozai were so deadly is because they pretty much

Yep. I still wasn't sold on her even after last week, and I still think there's a bomb left to drop there (not necessarily her being an Equalist or switching sides, but something), but after this episode, I would totally cross the street for her.

Yep. Asami breaks Lin Bei Fong's streak as BAMF of the Week, though to be fair, Lin didn't appear in this episode.

A week ago, I mostly agreed with you, but I was on a four hour flight last Sunday and got to watch the first seven back to back on my iPad, and a lot of my complaints about pacing went away. This is just going to be one of those series that's better on DVD, in my opinion. It's strong now, but it's even better when you
