I always assumed his anger comes from the life he choose; a teacher, scraping by, washing cars in his free time, when he clearly has the talent to do other things but did not/has not for one reason or another.

thats what i thought too- but didn't seem like they were living an okay life, they come back, and the trouble starts up?

they show made such a big deal that they "had to go back". Ellie even said "we are all doomed" if they didn't. Some even mentioned the horrible things that happened to them while they were gone; save the initial time skipping & Charlotte's death, Sawyer and Co. seem to be alright.

Can someone tell me why they had to back to the island?
Its beginning to bug me so much that I watch the show differently.
