Yeah, you should still go ahead and watch Deadwood. It doesn't end in a particularly satisfying way (though it really doesn't leave anything hanging either), but it's still more than worth it.

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure why 'Raising Hope' gets so much hate around here at all.

Dolly will always be one of my all-time favorite ladies, and ranks as one of those "when I grow up I want to be her" people. She's so refreshingly candid about everything, and underneath all the stuff that's fake about her exterior, there's nothing fake about her.

Robin
I actually really loved this episode, which is more than I can say for most of the others this season (except for "Subway Wars") and even last season.

Being occasionally neglectful and really promiscuous and lying to your kids don't seem mutually exclusive.

"Re-introduce?" Was Kevin McDonald ever a gossip column staple?

Wow, he looks downright Billy Zane-ian.

Calder
I'm glad this is good. It always bothered me more than it should have that Pornos fans tended to dismiss her as the "girl who isn't Neko."

You, Me, Talky-talky
No love for Dave and Lisa's drunken conversation at the end of "Pure Evil." Playing drunk is really difficult to do, and they just absolutely nailed it.

Too true, Annie. I've been reading some reviews of Winter's Bone, and though this one is good, most have used phrases like "backwoods Hell" and "violent and otherworldly" to describe the Ozarks. That may describe the film, but it doesn't describe the region. Hell, even in an interview with Granik, she talked about

Wasn't it actually a cricket that she ate, though? That seems infinitely more appealing than a roach.

Much as I tend to hate the Scully-in-peril storylines, it makes sense to me from a narrative point of view. If you take into consideration the fact that Scully was initially assigned to the X-files against her will, presenting the character with reason upon reason not to remain (single-episode dangers, as well as her

As a native Ozarkian, I have to say that meth is a huge problem here. The town I went to high school in had a population of 12,000 and had four independent drug counseling centers within city limits, and an additional four in the county. I barely know anyone local who doesn't have a meth addict in the family.

Ducks can shake their tailfeathers. Therefore, they win through adorableness.

Current AP style suggests that one space is correct, but MLA allows for both with a preference for one space. Don't get me started on APA, which changes its preference with every edition.

Agreed. An argument about whether one or two spaces after a period is appropriate nearly ruined several friendships in my social group. Things got beyond heated.

It was especially obnoxious on this episode. It felt like the extra squealing and cheering at the end of the Penny/Sheldon plot nearly drowned out some of the dialog. Yeesh.

Parents' fights
I adored Sheldon's version of his parents' fights.

I passed through Forks before the whole Twilight thing, and if memory serves they had a pretty kick-ass lumberjack museum. Any town with a museum devoted to trees can't be a shithole.

I actually had an American Lit. professor who used to be a stand-up comedian. I'll never forget his lecture about how passive learning is akin to getting a haircut or a lapdance.
