This is great casting news, although like many people, I'd been hoping that the next Doctor would be someone who had already appeared on the show in some capacity or another. Someone from the Classic era, for instance - isn't it about time that, say, the actor who played Adric made a return to the show?

Adric is obviously the best companion, ask anyone. The worst companion is plainly Peri, or possibly Turlough.

Luckily, as a gimmick commenter, I feel no need to be clever or insightful.

They should bring back a much-loved companion from the classic era.

Actually, I think you'll find that lots and lots and lots of people said that everywhere. It was one of the most shocking deaths in British television history - only the death of "Dirty Den" in EastEnders comes close.

Have to say I'm disappointed this guy decided not to go with any classic-era companions.

I may be biased, but it's common knowledge that Adric was the best companion. History will prove me right.

Damn it, man, I'm a gimmick commenter, not a fact-checker! If some (apparently under-informed) nerd on Wikipedia says that it's season 14, then season 14 it is.

I recommend starting with season 14 of the original series, because that's when everyone's favourite companion, Adric, makes his first appearance.

I'm sorry, but why would the audience love to see harm done to the most beloved character in the entire Doctor Who universe? This makes no sense.

I second this! Bring back Adric, everyone's favourite companion!

Well, that's just insane. Everyone missed Adric. He was one of the most popular Doctor Who companions of all time, or so I hear.
