De Nile
I'm pretty sure Nick Cave denied any involvement with The Crow during his recent spate of Grinderman interviews.

Bad Trailerz Bureau
This had the most irritating trailer in ages. Makes it look so unappealingly generic. As if Jake Gyllenhaal's face wasn't naturally annoying enough. And the bizarre, clipped way Jeffrey Wright speaks in it makes me want to hit somebody. Seriously, listen to the way he pronounces the word "identity".

Saying "I want to sink back into a Taste of Cherry" is a bit poncy, but I salute him for posting something sensible on here.

Omitted Role That I Like…
…His one-scene cameo in Mystery Train, as the creepo who tries to hustle (and perhaps do worse to) Roberto Benigni's wife.

"I make stuff, actually I make up stuff, stories mostly, collaborations of thoughts, dreams, and actions. Thats me." Ashton Kutcher's Twitter profile. Ahahahaha what a cunt.

You Forgot…
The Shout, which is a really interesting horror movie, also starring John Hurt and Alan Bates. Directed by Jerzy Skolimowski. I don't know how available it is in the US of States, so I suppose it's forgivable. Worth finding, though.

Oh, he's fine on the studio albums. Very unobtrusive. Just purely the Last Waltz, that 'twiddly' sound gets on my nerves.

I actually find his guitar style a bit annoying. Could have done with far less of it in The Last Waltz. I didn't mind his 'performances' in the interviews- I can totally see why Levon Helm and Ronnie Hawkins would have laughed at him, but whether what he's saying is the truth or not doesn't matter. The film as a

I would have thought that the opening line quoted above would be proof AGAINST the book being ghostwritten, as clunky and cheesy as it is.

Billion Dollar Brain is right. Very underrated. Would rather watch that than any Bond movie. Also, Pulp is worth checking out, if only for his outfit.

Well, surely that's the genius of their plan.

Rock Inaccuracy
Sorry to be a pedant, but the Warren Zevon lyric is "Sweat, piss, jizz and blood" not what you've got there.

I'm a huge fan of Malick, but this is my least favourite movie of his. It's the only one that doesn't connect with me emotionally. The battle sequences are astonishing, as are the visuals (the slash of blood across the blade of grass), but the gentle ruminations of the various voiceovers comes off as inappropriate

More Penn
There's a very good career-spanning interview with Penn in Projections 4 (now defunct annual collection of film writings), published in 1994 (I think) if you can track it down.

Missouri Breaks is an amazing film. Great cast (John P Ryan, Harry Dean Stanton, Randy Quaid and Frederic Forrest as the gang). And Brando isn't fucking up. His character is quite clearly batshit insane, so Brando reacts accordingly. Love the mix-up of accents so that you can never quite get a handle on him.
I love

Ack, please don't bring up Ready to Wear- the only Robert Altman film that is irredeemably shit. And yes, I have seen OC And Stiggs.

Who Who?
One thing confusing me: Matt Smith says he grew up without Doctor Who being on TV. I'm exactly the same age as him, though, and the Sylvester McCoy stuff was on at that time, I watched it, it terrified me, so was he watching the other channel, what? No disrespect intended. He appears to be the best of the new

The entire myth of the werewolf (lethal allergy to silver, full moon, etc) was made up by the screenwriter of this film, Curt Siodmak.

Don Johnson would be IN to it, I'm telling you. I can tell what looking at him what his pleasures are.
PS, most of Demme's '80s work is great. He really seemed to embrace the trappings of the era in a positive way. Last Embrace is great, too, very Hitchcock, but is one of those movies that seems to have completely
