Mystery was brilliant- stayed with me for ages. The Throat is rather good, too. Inspired several Nick Cave songs, incidentally.

It must be fairly inconvenient and slightly embarrassing, though.

I saw Lon Chaney walking with the Queen.

Negatory on this
Saw these on TV, and thought they weren't up to much, with the exception of the last part which was quite powerful (even though it had an improbably semi-upbeat ending). There's no substance to it whatsoever- they nod towards a plot now and again, but nothing really materialises, just a bunch of

Khaaaaan
Apparently this movie was a favourite with Warren Zevon, this and something called "Empire of the Ants". He references the two of them in his song "Life'll Kill Ya".

The Good Thief is the only movie that I went to see purely for the lead actor. And Dog Soldiers/Who'll Stop The Rain is fantastic, with Nolte as the Zen marine. Extreme Prejudice is ace, too.

How can you tell when something is boring when you suffer from narcolepsy?

The Region 2 DVD that was once available in the UK had a really good transfer, and a 5.1 track, along with a couple of making-of features. Worth getting hold of, if you can.

Another Hopper Western
I caught "Kid Blue" on TV several years ago, another Hopper comedy western, with a poignant edge. Co-starred Warren Oates. Hopper plays an outlaw who tries to lie low in a town, while working at the local factory. Oates plays kind of a straight man role/milquetoast. Really, really good, yet no

Sorry for the politeness, gents. Also want to add that Avalon has a game in it that seems more like something people would actually play.

respectfully disagree
I disagree that this movie is the last word on movies and games. Have you seen Mamoru Oshii's Avalon? It's really stunning.

Jeff looks more like Waylon Jennings than Kristofferson in this

"Year of the Cat" was Al Stewart. I hate his fey voice.

So do I, actually, he's an evil, smug bastard. Hilariously, he recently whined on British radio "No matter how good a review this one gets, somebody's always going to drag up Rudebox ".

Ha! It is rather like Ultimate Force, isn't it? But no-one in it is as sexy as Ross Kemp.

I thought the paedophile gameshow host in the second one was a nice touch.

Boy Meets Girl is very good, too- at least, say, two-thirds of it is. I generally find that in each of his movies there is a scene where two characters talk about love in very tiresome, pretentious terms- doesn't he realise that the non-verbal stuff like the "Modern Love" sequence is far more effective?

Weddell Sea! My name is Weddell! Anyway…were the audience's 'members' 'frigid'?

Is Judge Reinhold camp (as in effete)? He is, isn't he? I'm not sure, but I feel like he is.
And if you like his work, you should check out Vice Versa, if only for the scene in which he 'jams' in a guitar shop whilst channeling Fred Savage.

She is missing a hymen because she has a child, "Baby E", who will, in a couple of years, join Prince's backing band.
