I think the hostile reaction is more a result of critics praising Wavves so highly when it's hard to see why the group stands apart from a slew of other noisy, sloppy indie acts. Really it's the critics fault for not justifying their gush – it's hard to see why this record gets a B+ when one of the critics' favorite…

That has to be one of the dumbest statements I have ever read. The shallowness of mainstream hiphop is a joke in itself — it's really hard to understand the point of a parody.

Conor Oberst? He had a thing called Bright Eyes and then also a thing called Desaparecidos… The longer songs certainly remind me of Mr. Oberst's more self-indulgent work. Then again, I think Mr. Oberst had more variety in his songwriting.
