Basterds wasn't Tarantino's 3rd worst movie (behind Four Rooms and Death Proof)… I just do not get the love for it. It certainly didn't deserve any awards.

That's actually true.

But Shamalamadingdong built his career on the "twist" ending movies, and The Village was his third following that formula. So, naturally, people were looking for it.

I agree somewhat, and I tried to enjoy "the ride" - but really if a movie like this places all its bets on the ending being a mindfuck… well, it failed in that regard.

Scorsese is just fine when executing genre material, he is still a helluva director. But, for a movie that seemed to rely so much on THE TWISTTM, it just really didn't have any punch. I was actually hoping it turned out

The Game is miles better than Shutter Island… in every way.
