Yep, made it to Star, turned 16, and dropped out of Scouts with a quickness. I never joined with any intention of completing anyway, was more interested in camping and canoeing than advancing.

Saw Sleigh Bells in STL around 3 years ago. The show was super-short, and the sound cut out a couple of times, but I still enjoyed it.

Their second album was kind of a letdown, but I think the first one still holds up pretty well.

I wanted to like it, given that my kids thought it was funny, and we usually agree when it comes to CN shows (I even like Teen Titans Go). But I didn't laugh once during Uncle Grandpa. I'll give it another chance, I guess.

Too bad they didn't post the video for "Whats a Girl to Do", it's really good.

I think the first albums from both Death Grips and Sleigh Bells still hold up. It's just that the following albums go downhill, I think I listened to DG's third album maybe once.

Funny, I never read Hardy Boys much as a kid, but I read a lot of those Three Investigators books.

"The Second Wife" is one of my favorites. In my mind a sad trombone sound effect plays when the woman sees the new furnace in the basement.

Actually, Wind Dragon said "old chum", so it kind of doesn't make much sense for Batman to throw it back at the other dude. But since it's a reference to how Batman talked in the Superfriends cartoon, I guess he had to say it to someone.

Went back to look up other Epic titles. Forgot how many great ones there were: Blood, Groo, Akira and Moebius reprints, Starstruck, etc. I even liked the short-lived Shadowline series of comics. Now I want to get a lot of those back. Think you have the right idea with ebay.

+1 for the Power Windows mention

Beast Boy: Kitty says your name is Logan. So's mine, think we're related?
Wolverine: Kitty talks too flippin' much.

Was reading an article last week about how DC trumps Marvel because of the Vertigo line which appeals to mature readers. The person failed to mention that Marvel beat DC to the punch years earlier with Epic comics. I'm not saying stuff like Marshal Law, Dreadstar, Moonshadow, etc are as well done as say, Sandman, but

I know it came later, but I always liked Dynamo Joe

I remember scouring 25 cent long boxes for copies of Omega Men #3 when Lobo got popular. You could re-sell them for ten bucks or more a pop. Now I'll bet that issue is right back in the cheap bins, in between multiple copies of Jim Lee's X-men and the Death of Superman.

Oh, for those old days when you bought comics from a rotating wire rack. Had to pull one from the middle if you wanted a copy that was still in mint condition and not creased or banged up.

Daredevil: Born Again still holds up. Actually, a lot of his 80s stuff still makes for great reads. Elektra Assassin is completely bug nuts.

In retrospect, 60 cents wasn't all that much. Even when they moved up to 75 cents in the mid 80s, it was easy to calculate how many comics you could buy on making 20 bucks a month mowing lawns. Nowadays, I don't know how a kid could afford to buy more than 4 or 5 titles a month without hitting up mom and dad.

Wow, I was just going to reply with "What about G.I. Joe and Rom?", which were two of my favorite comics in '83.
