I taught my son when he was 4 to sing that song every time the wife would leave and it was just the boys at home.  She fucking hated that with good reason, but I couldn't resist.

It's a great friend test of a song.  I'd go with Pumpin' 4 The Man as my favorite, but I wouldn't judge people based on their appreciation of that song.  Hell I think less of myself for loving it as much as I do.

I don't so much "get" that as…exist at that.  Fuck, and I spout off Dad humor all the time too, and need a knee brace after waking up with a knee injury.  WAKING UP WITH AN INJURY.  What the fuck…I got old fast.  It's like it went from hearing her say "I'm pregnant" to honestly considering pre-buying funeral

That may have been my former boss.  He lives in Akron, and requests "manly" glassware regularly.  He thinks it's so hilarious he'll tell the story about shit like that the next day at work.  He also likes to tell jokes about "brown" people.  Sharing an office with him sucked hard.

Throw in Saul from Deadwood for good measure

back when the lips rawked like the beach boys in a blender.  I love this song right from the weird ass donkey bray sounds at the get go.  happy, noisy, frantic….excellent.

Like vegan substitutes, this was without flavor and of questionable texture.

I'm not hungry anymore

When did Driveshaft change their name?

There were a few D&D ones as well.  Pretty terrible, but fun to see it actually done as well.

It's gotta be the origin story.  Who are these dudes, why are they so excellent to each other?

I got to meet her with my wife at a small in-studio show in Columbus with 3 other members of New Pornographers.  We talked about how my in-utero son was going nuts dancing for their music, and I got to correctly identify a simpsons reference being tossed around by Newman and Neko on the air (regarding the dolphin

She kind of sounds like Neko Case swallowed a frog

I totally miss the buzzy guitar weirdness of Ronald.  It's a huge contributor to what makes the Future Head to Clouds period my favorite.  The insane guitar tones that Ronald and Dean Ween were using around this time are still some of my favorite.  I love make crazy sounds with a stack of pedals, but those guys found

Aren't both Ginger Ale Afternoon and Barbary Coast on "HIT to Death in the Future Head"?  Which is an EXCELLENT album…btw.  The beach-boys-in-a-blender period of Hit to Death to Clouds is hands down my favorite.

The intro drums to "Slow Nerve Action" on there are the best example of that. Just gigantic.  The actual recording and processing of the drums along with the drumming is crucial to how overbearing (in a good way) it sounds.

I saw them on that tour as well.  They were are surprisingly good show actually.  Super tight performance.

Dibs on Brain v. Pelvis as a band name

Hell when I was forced to go to meetings at 17 they didn't care if I smoked.  Plus…lots of tasty trans-fats.  It I left my rage from being forced at home, it was actually kind of nice to go spend an hour smoking, drinking coffee, eating donuts, and listening to people tell some really crazy ass stories.  The trick was
