Bonus fun fact: the main theme of the movie (no, not that one, the other one) is the Dies Irae, a monophonic chant from the 12th Century.

It's been almost three years since I saw this movie, and I'm still not sure how I felt about it. It's a needlessly brutal, nihilistic mess, and it has an awful screenplay, but I can't entirely discount it. It's this weird mix of stunning filmmaking coming out of terrible filmmaking choices, but I'll be damned if it

If I were in charge of a door that held back the legions of the dead, I'd probably secure it in a sturdier way than just shoving a stick through the handles and calling it good.

I can only hope this is going to be the gritty, ultra-serious Big Bertha movie everyone's clearly been begging for.
