Although I hate to defend this abortion, I think they MIGHT be talking about Dawson's Creek, only because it comes on TBS every morning just before school, and has for the past 8 or so years. These kids could have caught the reruns, much like people of my generation experienced Saved by the Bell more through TBS and

Are AV Clubbers hipsters, or just pop culture geeks? I guess I've always thought of hipsters as, by definition, poseurs; people latching onto a cultural happening in order to give themselves a paint-by-numbers identity. I don't think of them as actually taking the time to argue about pop culture on the internet.

I think Conan may have been sponsored by PBR on that tour

The writers seemed to be under a rule that made sure they made a pop culture/popular media reference every 10 seconds. This show will have a shelf life of precisely 2 months. I'm amazed that it got such a good review. Then again, I'm not the target audience: I'm an elderly 27 years old.

Definitely good for a beach read.

Thanks, @avclub-1b4841ed1a4be16cae640c64d7b7302b:disqus I was wondering when it became commonly accepted that the film version sucked. I thought it was a great movie.

Yeah, at some point, it just comes down to your personal tastes.

Someone on his tumblr commented that AV Club commenters are "almost as pretentious as Pitchfork commenters." When did Pitchfork get a comments section?

I'd say way more of those comments were good than bad. Especially the ones by me.

@Jay S. Good points. I think there's also a lot of need for his fans to "keep it real," as in, they don't want to act like they're accepting whatever he's throwing them, because they can't be easily won over. There's also a strong contingent of people "protesting" the show because Donny canceled Daves of Thunder.

I actually thought most of the comments about Nerdist were usually constructive, not nasty just to be nasty. Sure, people mocked Hardwick or Mira, but it was clear they were fans who were becoming annoyed at the direction the podcast had taken (toward the three guys making inside jokes for an hour and a half, away

Anyone ever go over to the Mahalo boards? Christ, do those guys hate Carolla. Way worse than anyone on here, because they have way more to bitch about. Yet they spend all their time on HIS fan message boards. There are guys on there who post JUST to tell everyone they didn't listen to the episode. And they post this

I agree with what Noel Murray said in his Opryland article; the movie should have been about Starr's character, not Eisenberg's.

I think the idea is, less than they'd be getting paid to do almost any other project. Probably scale, maybe better. They're in SAG, and even the minimums are pretty decent from what I understand (they kind of have to be, for the actors that only work a couple of times a year), so the people from this show are not

I would never have guessed Bill was the same guy as the bearded dude in Knocked Up. That was actually shocking to me when I figured it out.

Well he is an NBC exec so…his parents probably bought him friends/girlfriends.

Nick Nunziata of CHUD.com fame produced this too!

One of maybe 2 movies where I find Reese Witherspoon attractive. The other being that Paul Newman movie where she's topless.

Outside of All the Real Girls, I haven't seen much evidence of her acting being any good. But she is hot. And why is Reeves not hot? Cause you're a dude?

Really all you have to do is invite Jann Wenner to one of your parties.
