We don't overindulge our kids, but we but them tons of books from the Scholastic flyer. My daughter likes to boast that she once got so many in an order that she had to bring them home in the box the class's entire shipment had come in.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that the next generation of Marvel and DC fans were being birthed. Just kids who love comics as a medium.

I'll check that out, thanks!

It's the most popular volume; plus, the earlier stories have some trial-and-error about them while Sim finds his style. The backstory is worth catching up to, but HIGH SOCIETY can be understood without it. (That's where I began reading Cerebus myself, around age 13. Didn't read the earlier issues until I was in

Exactly. That was my feeling when I read the later stories (even though she's still pretty unhappy, or at least thinks she is).

That whole page is beautiful, isn't it? (And it's her grown daughter, right? Or am I misremembering? I don't have the box in front of me at the moment.)

The text is a bit bigger this time (on some of the pieces, anyway).

SLEEPWALK AND OTHER STORIES, for sure, followed by 32 STORIES, then SUMMER BLONDE. I'm not a fan of his graphic novel SHORTCOMINGS, but many others disagree. I did very much like his wedding memoir SCENES FROM AN IMPENDING MARRIAGE though.

Agreed (except for maybe the "somewhat hot" part).

Good point. The artist also expresses ambivalence about this, when her daughter asks "Will I be the most important thing you ever did?"

I think Tasha nails it in the video by comparing it to a board game, though it'd be like if SORRY were about 1-and-a-half-times its usual size (and quadruple its usual weight).
