I think he meant more than just translation, but here at least he was speaking primarily of not knowing Greek as a blessing because it left him open to all the various translations which were als0 (as all translations are) adaptations. Borges found Quixote, being in his own language, to be harder to take variations

One hundred thousand years ago,
some vodka was out hunting in the plains, when it slipped and fell into a crevasse, where it was frozen solid. In 1988, it was discovered by scientists who thawed and distilled it. It then attracted P. Diddy and became… Ciroc, The Unfrozen Cave Man Vodka!

Just rereading all the quotes, and goddamn that was a great script, and I loved that that's what convinced Williams to do it. It's worth keeping an eye out for anything she's in just for her proven taste in writing.

Yet another vote for Jeremy Brett (in the role that ruined his life), but more to the point
there are some kickass fuckings with the original concept, including Buster Keaton's Sherlock Jr., Without A Clue, and even Young Sherlock Holmes had some good fun in it. Fuck, I'll watch Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century

Sheltie, you have quoted what is perhaps my favorite line in all of English verse.

Best kind of woman
Equal (and large) parts gorgeous and thoughtful.

War does funny things to men.

The Lone Audience of the Apocalypse, that's what I meant.

I recall Atlas Shrugged working for Officer Barbrady. There are some good ideas to be rescued from objectivism, but mostly it reminds me why we should accept libertarians as counselors but not leaders.

There are a few good moments in each film (except for the last one), but as a franchise the Vacation movies pretty much suck ass, and they're way overplayed on television. If I'm supposed to be excited about a reboot (not that I will anyway, because they suck), then the original movies should go away for a while.

No, Johannes, you pretty much nailed high school, at least 7/8 of it. It was books more than computers and video games (though they were certainly in there) for me, but the effect was the same.

Ayn Rand
I loved The Fountainhead to an embarrassing degree in high school. I wouldn't say I exactly hate it now, but it certainly seems childish.

Thirded, Deacon.
Also, to harken back to Ack Ack, I think the sleepy eyes and general mild-manneredness work for this role. Lon Chaney Jr. was certainly mild-mannered with sleepy eyes. I always thought that the contrast between his human self and the ferocity (to a prewar audience) was one of the things that made the

POOR IMPULSE CONTROL
I can't believe 947 so called "reasonable" discussions are occurring, and no one has brought up Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash and it's sometimes antagonist Dimitri "Raven" Ravinoff,
"the baddest motherfucker in the world."
