When I was in high school, I saw Kiss of the Spider Woman on Bway—standing room—and ten years later, I still think of it as probably the best night I've ever spent in a theater.

I mostly just endure this show cause my husband likes it, but I laughed out loud when Penny called Leonard out and his response was a very weak "Whaaaaaaat…?"

My Fair Lady, really? I feel like My Fair Lady isn't even top five. West Side Story would be my personal pick.

Re: "price of fame," I always wanted to hear more from the cast's significant others—not that I think there's a lot of depth to Roger, Jionni, Paula, or that guy Deena's dating, but it would have been interesting to get their take on things (esp. Paula, wtf is wrong with her that she'd voluntarily spend that much time

You bring up a good point—my husband and I started watching because the show reminded of him of the shore house he and his buddies rented in their early 20s. I think at first it made him nostalgic, and then really glad he didn't get stuck in that mode, a la the older housemates.

"Don't be afraid of him, kids! Tickle him and rub his belly!"

Oh god, I have two: the "I don't want any plastics" speech, and the moment at the end when the newel comes off the stairs in his hand and he kisses and replaces it.

Wow, Juan_Carlo, I had never thought about "No One is Alone" that way, that's fascinating. Gives real bite to that earlier line about "You're not good, you're not bad, you're just nice," too.

I was thinking about it, it's nearly every Sondheim musical where someone dies—Passion, Assassins, the last scene of Sweeney Todd, and the ones already mentioned.

Wow, come to think of it, this concept is used in a bunch of musicals—Carousel, Kiss of the Spider Woman, The Boy From Oz, at least three Sondheim musicals I can think of…
