Zingalamaduni actually ages better than 3 Years… if only because the production is much more on-point. It flopped, but it's not an awful album. "United Front" is a great song for real.

Nah, I like Labcabin a lot, but Bizarre Ride is just timeless and every track hits hard. But you're right about "Runnin'" being incredible; definitely one of the best hip-hop singles of all-time. Respect to Dilla for that beat.

There's a fantastic interview on NPR between Grimm and Terry Gross. Grimm comes across as a really intelligent, perceptive guy who knows and regrets a number of mistakes he's made in his life.

Also, DO NOT sleep on KMD. Both albums are absolutely classic. I definitely put them on more than DOOM's records. Really creative and brilliantly crafted 90's hip-hop gems.

I just can't really get behind Dangerdoom all that much, but only because I find Danger Mouse to be an incredibly BORING producer. I do not see why he gets all that hype. I personally think DOOM flips beats better than that guy.

C'mon dude, Black Bastards (as well as Mr. Hood) is an all-time classic. Don't front. One of the most ingenious explorations/satires of hip-hop/inner-city stereotypes and social issues.

Only low point of Jewel is Smooth's awful slow-jam ballad at the end. At least the "No Bones" remix was there afterwards to play clean-up (if you had the CD at least).

I remember in the Jewel Of The Nile liners they shout out NKOTB for "coming realer than everyone thought." Pretty funny. But this was way after NKOTB's star had faded, so I don't know what was going through anyone's minds on both sides.

Kinda way after the fact though. And it was more like NKOTB trying to reinvent themselves for the R&B set than Nice & Smooth trying to garner some pop points.
