Carrie, the biggest thing for me there was that I felt that the angst to humor balance was tipped a bit too far over into the angst side in season 4. Something about watching Sam beat the shit out of Dean at the end left a really bad taste in my mouth. Still good TV, but it wasn't something I was able to binge-watch

I didn't watch
Because the show got pre-empted for a goddamn baseball game. But I just wanna say that I TOTALLY CALLED IT WITH CAS.

I was about twelve and couldn't be bothered with the WB when Supernatural first started airing…Now six years later, having discovered SPN in the fall of 2010, I miss the first two seasons. Am I hanging on to the past too much for you? The fact of the matter is that seasons one and two were better.

@What the Fuck: 18, actually, but it's the same difference. My age and my appreciation of TV, however, have only minimal correlation.

Confession: I successfully avoided the CW all through junior high and high school in favor of shows like Mad Men and Fringe. Then I got to college, and suddenly I no longer had HBO and it became a toss-up between the CW and Jersey Shore. I chose the pretty.

@Olaf I certainly wouldn't have complained at some depth or mythology building in this episode. Lola and I talked about this a little bit last week, but I think the biggest difference for me has been watching the majority of the series on DVD in the span of only a couple of months. I already knew how things were going

Alas, upfronts haven't happened yet; we've got no guarantee of renewal. That said, after finishing season 5 I would have said that there was no way they would have downgraded Misha Collins from a regular to a recurring. I was wrong.

I wasn't expecting depth or much mythological development. I was expecting an excuse plot to put the boys in a Western, and that's exactly what I got. Would I have liked to see more of Samuel Colt? Absolutely. Will I complain? There's this thing that people have always said about meeting your idols and Samuel Colt is,

I did notice a lot more of that this season. It seemed that at least 1-5 had about an equal ratio of death/torture. It wasn't just women and black men, it was everyone who wasn't a Winchester, no exceptions. And Ruby was such an enjoyable villain for me that her gender seemed almost irrelevant, barring that one

Yes, Nigel, it is way too much to ask. I wish they'd use that more as an angsting mechanism than constantly falling back on "DEAN IS INSECURE AND SAM IS ANGRY" all the time. They seem to be moving a little bit away from the angry!Sammy bit lately, though. Or maybe I'm just not paying enough attention.

Silly, that's what fanfiction is for. But, really, the boys should both be completely crippled by PTSD by now, what with their craptastic lifestyle and whatnot. And Gabriel might have wiped the memories or done something else when he returned everything back to normal. That's what I just always assumed happened

I think something more likely would be a Supernatural/Leverage mash-up, because how hilarious would it be for the Leverage team to stumble across the Winchesters while running a con? But I think that my preference for that also has to do with the fact that Jensen Ackles and Christian Kane are quite close friends in

They had me at "Sam and Dean in chaps" but I suppose the narrative framework would be nice too. But really, it'll be nice to see where they're going with this that they need to go back in time. Who knows, maybe we'll be lucky and they'll get stuck there and the rest of the season will be the boys in the Old West and

I was more confused by the existence of a travel agent in 2011 than I was by the trip to Havana. At first I thought the car was Bobby's too, but they've all shown a definite preference for Chevy (Bobby drives a Chevelle), except for Ruby, who had a sick little Mustang. It makes no sense, but my logic here is that Ford

I'm excited. Besides. Next week? Western episode. There is no way that episode could possibly be bad. Well, there is. But boots and cowboy hats prompt some mad forgiveness in my cynical little TV-watching soul.

"Yeah, I'd say six seconds is too soon."

And by first thing I mean the car, because I suck and can't write for shit >_< Cherry ride, though.

First thing I noticed, and is it sad that that was actually the only way I realized we were in an alternate timeline before Ellen showed up? Either way, I'm still not bothered by Dean using "bitch." Probably because I use it way more than I should, but either way. As for the civil war, the reasoning is probably dual:

REALLY?

Well right, but I'm talking about saloons and horses and shit. Bonanaza style. Black steed instead of the Impala.
