Oh it is definitely probably the case, the kids are outright ignoring him (and this is just from me listening in the class next to his). Of course he also sounds like he is foreign and that is probably part of the problem (the reason why the kids aren't repsecting him and his lack of classroom management), as well

and I am substitute teaching today (at a "pre-engineering magnet academy") and the poor Spanish teacher in the classroom next to mine has zero control of his class.

I wonder
If Mr. Guggenheim has taken his kids out of private school and placed them in one of those high performing charter schools.

Cam Newton has been the difference so far for a mediocre Auburn team. He is a beast, not looking forward to my team trying to take him down since we had trouble all season tackling.

Don't worry, I am a pessimistic Alabama fan right now. Plus I live in Baton Rouge so I try to contain myself until after the game.

I don't think earned is the right word. Thankfully they were able to squeak by an undermanned North Carolina team…and then pulled a win out of their ass against a terrible Tennessee team.

I am more pissed that shitty teams like LSU and Auburn are still undefeated. But South Carolina is a good team, they had a bye week before the game, while Alabama was on their third straight tough game. South Carolina was clearly the better team that day though.

Instead of seeing any of these movies this weekend
I watched my alma mater lose their first game since 2008 and Duplicity.

and they cast plenty of "ugly" ladies to help round out the cast.

The movie was made almost 3 years ago, probably released on DVD in other places of the world.

The Ernest Goes to Camp song "Gee I'm Glad its Raining" and yes it made me cry.

I am more of a Diane Ravitch fan myself. I don't reform in schools, I want reform in schools. But it needs to start at home as well.

Yes, nothing screams experiments like tests that you can pass by answering ABCD in a pattern. Or relegated any subject that isn't English or Math to the back-burner. I love the idea of experimenting in schools, I have a problem with terrible high stakes testing.

In Baton Rouge charter schools are full of Teach for America, people working on alternative certification, paraprofessionals, and of course a handful of people like me who couldn't find a job at other schools.

Obviously the solution is for you to become a teacher.

As long as they quit being blamed for everything that is wrong about today's youth.

So true, in Washington D.C has a public school population of 5% white kids. The guy who won the primary got huge support from the black community, who as we know work for the teacher union as well.

I want to see this movie, but I am more worried that it will continue the myth that as Diane Ravitch says: Now, the public will be immersed in the "reform" narrative: Our public schools are rotten; low test scores are caused by bad teachers; high-stakes testing works; merit pay works; charters work; the unions that

and Washington D.C. is one of the cities where they tried to defang the teacher's union as well.

Yes, if anything people want to be underpaid to teach in high-stress, low income areas. (I have no idea what Rhode Island average teacher pay in Louisiana a first year teacher makes about 42-44K a year) and a teacher in Baton Rouge maxes out at 58K base pay.
