I think I might have tolerated the amateurish inconsistencies and the general self-important up-its-own-assness that arrived somewhere towards the end of S1 if it wasn't for the fact that it handled its Big Important Issues really, really badly. It's one thing to be cheesy; it's another to be straight-up offensive and

This show is wonderful about continuity; I'm holding out hope of seeing Amy Ryan and Patricia Clarkson's characters, like, doing Upper East Side pilates together or something next season.

I cannot possibly choose a favorite ridiculous NYC background detail, but it might be the kid going by on his scooter. "I'M ALOOOOOONE!!"

SPOILERS: I didn't understand that pool plan at all — electrocute it while somehow not killing Jay, and hoping it wouldn't do exactly what it did, which was start chucking appliances at her?? And apparently shooting it did work eventually, even though it clearly didn't the first time…but then maybe not, according to

In college I mostly studied to film scores (Pan's Labyrinth, Atonement and Amazing Grace — no, it's actually good! — being my faves), as many do, but what made it slightly amusing was that I'd measure time by album. Like 'okay, I am not leaving the library until at least two of these bitches run all the way through.'

I've seen the whole season and I enjoyed it overall, mostly because of the characters and their chemistry, but I agree that the courtroom scenes in particular are distractingly ludicrous all the way through. It honestly feels like they had no legal consultant whatsoever.

*raises hand timidly* I don't even watch DW, and the gifs of that episode made me tear up. Dammit, Tony Curran!!

It really does play like a Shakespearean romantic tragedy (and intentionally so, according to Bryan Fuller!).

Obviously there are a LOT of highly disturbing SVU episodes, but for this list I'd submit some/all of the William Lewis saga; it's bad enough to watch our beloved Olivia being tormented, but I found it all the more infuriating because they JUST KEPT BRINGING HIM BACK and drawing that storyline out as much as possible.

I actually had to (re)watch that episode — and summarize it in a concise, objective, matter-of-fact way — just last week. It was a hard day, man.

It's not just that they're humorless and strict about what counts as funny, it's that they love to pontificate about stuff without actually knowing much about it. I saw someone outraged about the portrayal of Chinatown in "Knockoffs" and I was just like '…you've never been to NYC, have you.' I mean, the sewer bit was

I love that Abbi is unable to lie without going way too far in her fake story. See also: her yelling at her pretend laundry person on the phone and denying underwear stains.

Not that I recall, no. They had a scene where everyone named their craziest place "(Oh…the foot of the bed." "We have a winner!") and there was the episode where people were routinely having sex in front of Ross' library book, but that's about it.

I love it when Tumblr gets mad at this show, as they often do, because they're all completely, utterly missing the part where Ilana is in fact Human Tumblr and it's played for laughs in basically every episode. ("All those old white dudes totally look alike!")

You know, I found it quite funny at the time, but that "HERE'S JOHNNY!" moment was very unwise on Jimmy's part. That easily could've gone in a Burn After Reading sort of direction. I know he's our main character and all, but I really wouldn't put much past Evil Mastermind Gilligan.

I honestly and truly reacted like Damian when Cady snapped the homecoming crown when that happened. Like, there was an audible noise and a despairing gesture towards the screen. It was embarrassing. But I love him quite a lot. :(

The Katrina-is-suddenly-evil thing is a shockingly transparent way of hastily getting rid of her ("who will make the ultimate sacrifice"? Uh, probably not one of the two main characters) because they can't think of anything decent to do with her, and it's very, very annoying. If they'd planned better from the start

No, you're not. I hate to say it, but there's a part of me that really wants the actors (namely Nicole) to be allowed to move on to better things.

I forgot he was in Minority Report, but I rather liked his unnerving version of Robert Oppenheimer on Manhattan (which is a show that exists and also somehow got a second season, yay!), so that's cool.

I have an odd hunch that Paul Blart 2 will not help much either. (I love him because of Band of Brothers, but yikes.)
