I used to play tuba in high school,i think because i had music training no one wanted the tuba so the teacher placed me.

You should read the Stephen King book 11/22/63, they tackle those sorts of issues since the book is about a guy who goes back in time at the urging of a man who wants him to stop JFKs death. It's a pretty enjoyable read, AvClub gave it an 'A' i think?

Marnie, like I've said before, is awful. Even after her first breakup with Charlie who became successful (which is the only time she wanted him back) and then with the mess with Booth, instead of building herself up she needs to lean on guys who have more power than her. She might be working on her talents now but yet

I think it's just so that Marnie can't always pretend to have the moral high road over Hannah now. Hannah caught Marnie in a moment of weakness, a position that's humiliating for Marnie - she has to 'stoop' to get laid since the one that she thinks is on her level is in a relationship.

I keep thinking this comment is really about your ex girlfriend showing you her balls though you've seen a bunch of them before.

Literal New Yorker cartoons found a way to make bland cartoons interesting as well, for some reason I find these hilarious: http://www.themonkeysyouord…

George Saunders, dude.

Re: Kids using tools. I always think about shop class in grade 7. I grew up near farms so probably more kids were accustomed to using tools, but I was not - welding and the band saw completely terrified me. Our teacher was just like, 'Remember Acetylene before Oxygen or you'll blow up the studio, ok?'

What's the ratio of bearded to non bearded guys in the office?

Agreed. Upon a diagnosis of dementia, i'm gonig to start taking care of my affairs, say my goodbyes and take care of it.

The episode where the ice is breaking and Holling starts getting the urge to pick fights with bar patrons is hilarious. Man, i miss NX so much, the avclub needs to revisit the episodes :(

Bloom County is wonderful. Mine is Gasoline Alley, you can definitely see that influence in Bill Waterson's work.

Favourite Holling Vincour moment: When he sings Ave Maria to Shelly when she's missing her catholic Christmas.

I love Gene Rayburn though, one of my favourite game show hosts, never gave off a creepy vibe like some other hosts (looking at you Dawson).
I got addicted to this show while in college and the family I was living with had the Game Show Network. Also, the Canadian version of this is horrible.

When I was around the age of 5-6 I hated the 2001 Space Odyssey record my parents, classic music fans, would play. The baby crying with haunting music freaked me out as did the fetus on the cover. My parents, who are the most mundane people ever somehow were able to actually traumatize me via classical music.

Agree 100% Saw it on a plane a few years ago, which is the only reason I sat through it and though I don't recall the details of the film mostly I just remember thinking it was one of the worser films i've ever seen, it is fucking awful.

He looked great in Mad Men. In fact I didn't even recognize him for the longest time.

'Wanna have sex, Al?'
"No Peg.'
*flush*
*Applause and cheering*

Mike Judge should get like a mandatory 3 year deal with every show be creates by now, seriously.

You and me both, I worked as a line cook for those 4 years because all i wanted to do was be an artist but couldn't see my way into that from where I was. And yep, working in a small town restaurant (if you don't want to) is just hopeless and awful like a Springsteen song. Though it all worked out, this movie is like
