Trust me, Lone Ranger is getting nowhere near a B. It's… many things. But "better than a B" is not one of them. On the other hand, I am anticipating reading its reviews very, very much.

I'm always amazed that AICN is a thing. It was useful in 1997, before it was on the payroll and would post actual scoops and leaks, but its usefulness is long, long, long gone, along with Harry's credibility.

Goddamn you, @avclub-1b9a80606d74d3da6db2f1274557e644:disqus . I have spend a decade of intense therapy building up mental blocks to seal off forever the memory of Harry's Blade 2 review. And you undo it just like that.

I love the album but desperately wish that Dhani Harrison (and George Martin? Clapton? McCartney? Anyone?) would get in the studio and mix a de-Spectorized version of it. It wouldn't have to replace the original, but I'd love to have that option. I just hate Spector's production despite my love for the album as a

I spent way too much time last year after I moved to LA trying to figure out where the club from Gold Boots had been located. Turns out it's a strip club now. The more things change…

Also, now that I think about it, it was the same in First Contact. The fleet was at Earth, but the Enterprise survived because it was sent in the other direction until Picard decided to defy his orders.

Pedantic point: In STIV, it was kind of the opposite - there were a lot of ships around Earth but they were all disabled by the WhaleShip. The "Bounty" picked up the distress call because they were far enough away to survive.

MCCLOUD!

It's making me completely mental that they're not bringing in McGann for the 50th. I really, really, really hoped for a multi-Doctor story beyond just the post-reboot ones, and for McGann's to get any screentime outside of the TV movie. And, OBVIOUSLY, I wanted a McGann/Grant faceoff/Withnail reunion.

My "new low" in nerd-dom was even worse than noticing (and being annoyed by) Praxis. When they mentioned the Neutral Zone, I thought… why is there a Neutral Zone when they haven't encountered the Organians yet?

This movie drops in a lot of stuff that's obviously supposed to be "IMPORTANT" but is important only if you were versed in classic Trek. For newbies - who I assume this movie is supposed to appeal to - these are random people who have just met each other and there's no weight to those relationships and situations at

@avclub-e329caccd50119a7e020cb5532f30569:disqus I agree in principle, as the previous 3 MI films were clearly "let's just buy a familiar franchise to let Tom Cruise be an action star." I saw where he's also doing Man from UNCLE now? WTF?
But you have to separate the first three MI films in your mind and watch Ghost

The only objection I have to your points is Mission Impossible IV. No, it's not a cerebral think-piece, but it's an incredibly well-made adventure film. Yes, I admit I'm biased due to my obsessive love for Brad Bird. But Bird's ability to combine plot with action and make that action actually comprehensible (due in no

And then… they make out. Or something.

Well I'm wading through comments but I'm not only late to the thread but it's probably already been brought up…

Totally, totally agree. I've never been able to stand "real life" Cross and also have wondered why he gets a pass on being awful. I love Tobias Bluth as much as anyone, but Cross just seems unpleasant.

Ah, I assumed as much :) It would be amazing though. Ah, Quest for Glory.

This was my objection too. I guess it's because McBrayer is such a distinctive looking, birdy kind of guy, but his higher-pitched voice just didn't seem to match the character. I'd expect a lower, more gruff voice with more of an Appalachian accent.

I was very amused at the hat. Surprised no one has noticed that Archer and Gilette's country wardrobes - you can see them in the screencap - are the clothes they wore in Brokeback Mountain. Circles within circles…

I wondered if this was a specific reference. Maybe to Stephen Colbert (Kohl-burt in South Carolina) or Newt Gingrich (his rural-ish family pronounces it "Ging-rick")
