That's just it, Insidious shows just what a sad state horror is in right now if that's amongst the best the genre has to offer. And yeah, The Ring was very well done, particularly by comparison.

I should try Animal Man again, but it's incredibly slow-burn storytelling was problematic for me all the way through Rotworld, where I finally gave up. Soule is doing decent work on Swamp Thing, but I'm not blown away yet. Kano's art is very nice though. Swamp Thing is definitely on the cusp of getting dropped by me

I just think compared to the runs since Morrison, I've found more to enjoy in Johns JL than anything Robinson, Meltzer, McDuffie, Kelly, or any of the other assorted fill-ins pulled off…it just feels grander for me.

@JokersNuts:disqus I rather liked the new take on Captain Marvel, and I didn't mind the Darkseid story, but I haven't re-read it since it came out.

I know I know, but that leather-ish jacket thing with the boots just looks rad.

I have to admit, I have fun reading the regular Justice League book, up until this ridiculous crossover started. It's big and stupid, but it's like a Saturday morning cartoon and the kind of escapist stuff I dig out of Justice League. Avengers is just too dull with a few decent character centered issues aside, I'll

I'd buy the book for that alone, but Lemire is crafting a pretty good little yarn too. I wish DC would eschew their current collection format for the series and start putting Lemire's stuff in hardcover.

Yup, when it comes to DC, I basically love this, Morrison's Batman Inc, Snyder's Batman, Lemire's Green Arrow, and Williams Batwoman without reservations. Everything else is average to terrible, though I'm sure someone could make a compelling argument for Manapul and Buccaletto's Flash, which has pretty art at least.

Lemire's Green Arrow is pretty awesome so far, and I have hope that Pak's overall work on Superman (both Batman/Superman and Action) will congeal into something worth noticing.

His Orion design is the best the character has ever looked.

Exactly, Sinister was one of the worst films I saw last year….the critical pass it got blew my mind.

It's pretty rough as well, but not SDCC levels…they at least spread the crowd around to about 4 hotels and this year they're moving the dealers room to the Atlanta Merchandise Mart (or whatever its called) to alleviate space concerns. It's a good Con, I'll be moderating some of the comics panels.

I'm fairly glad this is the year the lady and I opted not to go, the movie line-up is pretty weak and while I enjoy Game of Thrones and the like, I don't think there's much insight going to be provided by that panel. The comics stuff is always a good time though, though I'm sure Marvel will be ruling the roost on that

Or you just have different taste than me, I think mine is superior of course.

darn it.

So, I watched Insidious for the first time this week…I thought it was terrible, nothing but cheap jump scares that the score telegraphs. By the time the ghost hunters, or whatever the hell they were, show up, it was check out time for me as it just got worse and worse.

I'll probably be one of the people that will hate this. I loved Drive, one of my top 2 of 2011 (along with Shame), but I found Bronson a bore. I still need to try out Valhalla Rising, streaming on Netflix after all.

I find his dialogue writing for young characters pretty painfully out of touch, but I've been up this road before.

You guys mean X-Force right?

JL 3000 is the JLI team back together, I'm in no matter what.
