Vic & Shane were already partners in the pre-pilot ('Co-Pilot'). My impression is that Shane had always been corruptible but Shane as we know him today is a Mackey-made monster. I think watching Vic kill Terry broke his brain. Remember his early-Season 1 "We killed…. a cop…." breakdown?
