Roy Orbison comes into my house and sits down in my easy chair. "Would you like to play a game?" I ask. He nods, and says "What sort of game did you have in mind?" I can see that his eyes are pointed in the direction of a large roll of cling-film…

Well I wasn't going to originally but, you know, when in Rome…
I live in New York City, and I know I'm not alone in that I often fantasize about moving to some place where the air is fresh, the nights are quiet, and moderately-sized living spaces aren't the exclusive province of the ultra-rich. The thing is, if you choose to live here (and if you're able to choose where you live…
Personally, I try and balance downloading free stuff with buying from the artist/label - like, if I've downloaded an album off a blog and I want to get more from that artist, I'll make a point of paying for one of their other albums. Not saying this is the best approach, but it's what I do.
Also, load up your 35mm camera, shoot a bunch of pictures of your computer screen while the video's playing, take the film to the drug store and get back a stack of 4x6 prints, then flip through them really fast while you're playing that cassette you recorded - it's basically like watching the video.
On a Road
A Great Gatsby
Or you do ROAR with some crowns and musical numbers and stuff.
The backgrounds and supporting cast will be cutting-edge CGI but the lead will be a 10 year-old in a felt lion costume.
Can I ask what you mean by that, though (VR not being a 'creative medium')? Personally I've already seen VR used to make avant-garde sculpture, social-issue documentary films, etc. Like, all the stuff in this article sounds at least somewhat worthwhile: http://www.theverge.com/201…
Things to do it for: the lulz, the nookie, kicks.
I really don't agree with your stance on video games and VR (in general, I don't think it's wise to categorically dismiss a creative medium, form of media, etc.), but I'd like to note that I'm deeply creeped-out by the slow-but-persistent mainstreaming of alt-right messaging and rhetoric. From what I've seen, a lot of…
I think the Chili Peppers are a good band and I like some of their songs a lot, but I rarely listen to them on my own because I find the overall mood of their music to be pretty grating, especially in large doses. You can't talk about the Chili Peppers without talking about their rambunctious, sexed-up attitude; at…
Gonna take your daughter out tonight.
Believe it or not, there already exists a movie called The Memory Thief, and I've seen it.
Amy Adams seems to have a respectably unpretentious approach to taking roles: she likes making good, interesting movies, but she'll also be in whatever stupid thing - like Leap Year - as long as the paycheck's big enough. I should note that I haven't actually seen Leap Year, though - maybe it's a masterpiece (and hey,…
A little late to this one, but just wanted to add: I'm glad this site is giving this film another shake, since I thought it was a fine bit of horror craftsmanship and genuinely pretty scary, too. The original review on here gave it a C+ - not the worst grade, but I thought it deserved at least a B. Oh I've never seen R…
I tried to make a Gymkata joke but then I realized that Gymkata is the joke.
I actually read this book way back when it came out. It was decent, and compelling in parts, but also flawed - like, I remember a long scene at the end that tries to tackle themes of grief, loss of innocence, etc. but actually felt somewhat tacked-on. I remember feeling a bit weird about the book's approach to gender,…
Pfft, everyone knows the superior entry is Back Door Sluts 5; by the 9th entry the series had devolved into Chaucerian self-parody.
