And just a pinch of Basic Instinct here, and a dash of Single White Female there, and a little bit of The Crush for flavor, and garnish with some Poison Ivy.

I'm not talking about real life, myself, but if you're a character in a movie and a sexy young lady comes your way, watch out.

The fact the people are bringing up Tyler Perry regarding a movie that has nothing to do with Tyler Perry, save for involving people of similar ethnicity as the people in Tyler Perry movies, goes to show that black audiences are underserved by Hollywood and that the world actually needs more people like Tyler Perry.

I have to admit I dig this poster:

The message of this movie, and so many movies, is: "Hot chicks are bad news."

1984 also brought us, for better or worse, the beginnings of what would turn out to be several popular franchises (The Karate Kid, Police Academy, Revenge of the Nerds), the film that defined the 'mockumentary' genre (This is Spinal Tap), the film that launched Touchstone Pictures and made Tom Hanks a movie star

…and order some drinks and start talking about their films. A guy at the bar walks over, asking, "Hey, so what's you guys' deal?" Lynch talks about 'Lost Highway' and 'Mulholland Dr.' and thwarted desire and alienation; Cronenberg talks about 'Dead Ringers' and 'The Fly' and the innate grotesqueness of the human body;

Like, if there's only so much

Or maybe it's just that America needs more ninja warriors in general.

I'm upvoting your comment three years after you left it.

Ugh tell me about it. It's like, I just want to spend time by myself playing video games and watching TV but then women who look like Alicia Vikander keep giving me backrubs and making me dinner and stuff.

Well that escalated quickly

To me, Smith is a bizarrely overrated filmmaker (even when you factor in how widely panned his more-recent films have been). Like, the fact that he made a strong, influential, enduring feature film when he was 24 is remarkable, but of the films of his I've seen, I can't think of one that I'd actually recommend to

During the second Bush presidency I remember seeing a baby named "Georgebush" - not first name "George" and middle name "Bush," but just his first name, "Georgebush."

It's kind of appropriate that these classes are happening in Brooklyn, which Lovecraft viewed as a hellish place full of "foreign hostility and underbreeding," what with all the immigrants and non-white people and stuff.
