Yeah, I think 90% of Firefly's goodwill comes from the fact that Whedon made it. A person going into it who didn't know who he was would see a low budget, sometimes entertaining scifi show. If you told them it actually aired on network TV, they'd say "Jesus, I bet that didn't last long."

I agree that the "torture" skit on 36 Chambers was totally worth it. The way they're all cracking up at the ridiculousness of it really lightens the tone of the whole album.
