This was the first DeNiro movie I saw, as a teenager, and 'the playful whiparound with the FBI badge' made me yelp with laughter. I was a committed fan from then on, and I prefer just to quietly ignore the way things are now.

He was the best thing in Heaven Can Wait, which may or may not be saying much.

I shared a house with an old schoolfriend when we were both mid-20s. He had a girlfriend who used to come round often, and we got on pretty well. She used to confide in me, and did once say that if she'd met me first, she wouldn't have bothered with him.
Now, I didn't act on any of this - but I did note it all down in

I'm thinking Get Off Of My Lawn is too obvious, but I'll say it anyway.

Oh, I know, but the others still maintain their spindly forms really well, even Ronnie Wood. Keith's letting the side down.

I suppose Pemulis makes all the running on the 'incredibly potent DMZ', which may or may not have an impact on Hal at the end/beginning.

Infinite Jest is a different book the second time through, and probably even more rewarding.
Seconded on Pemulis - he and Don Gately, the two most 'working class' characters, are superbly drawn.

You Can't Always Remember What You Want

Saw Sleeping Dogs, the Bobcat Goldthwait film. NO SPOILERS, but an apology to those of you familiar with this one - I know it's a bit much first thing on a Monday. I thought it was great, managing to gouge some pretty real emotion out of the set-up … though as with World's Greatest Dad, there's the sense that things

Well, you say that, but just the other day I switched to Safari from a constantly crashing Chrome that was causing me to punch my keyboard in frustration. No problems with Safari yet, I'm happy to report.

Same as a cagoule.

Now try a Geordie accent.

It may be a cliche, but I'll say it again - The Daily Heil.

I don't know if 'visited to' is a typo, or an editing blip, or the way you Americans say it, but I like it, and I'm going to adopt it from now on.

Off-topic, but I always keep meaning to say that, while the Ayatollah Colm Meaney is my favourite name on here, yours runs it a very close second.

I've got to get the DVDs of this show. The BBC showed it very erratically in the 90s, and I never saw an episode I didn't enjoy - but if I saw even a third of them, I'll shit it.

Same here. I considered using Rayette DiPesto as my avatar name/pic, but didn't want to foster gender mishaps.

Beatles-related - I had a friend who lived in the Dingle, where Ringo grew up. I visited one weekend, and found myself in a bookie's at one point (I think the Grand National was on). I've honestly never experienced a more oppressive, frightening, threatening atmosphere in my life, and I live in Newcastle.
