You said it.

I just replied to him on the Oasis reuniting story. He always seems a super-nice bloke.

The Tom Waits one is pretty good - he gets sunstroke and seasick.

A Mancosaurus, if you will.

@avclub-6c6094f256f51e83fe02bce6091163e7:disqus 'Turd burgler' was a good old British slur directed at homosexuals. Logic doesn't come into hate. See also, 'Jobbie Jabber'.

Niche.

His article on Thatcher's death was one of the best things to come out of that whole endless nightmare, and went some way towards softening a few hearts towards him. Won't last.

Man Intensely Public.

Their b-sides were great, you're right, especially in the early days - Round Our Way, especially.

It's not explicit, particularly, but it's no walk on the beach either. The character it happens to isn't in the film a great deal, from what I remember, so he isn't someone we know very well, or else it would be even more distressing. But you should see it, it's really good.

I love 16 Days, and can play an approximation of the intro on the guitar. I make myself weep with pride when I do so.

Jim Jones Revue - Princess and the Frog
Laura Marling - Saved These Words
Megan Mullally - Ruby's Arms (be interested in opinions on this one)
Nick Lowe - American Squirm
Nick Curran and the Lowlifes - Baby You Crazy

I got in the way of you two there, didn't I? Sorry about that. You can still be each other's missus, though.

And of course, Spunk Davis, Butch Beausoleil, Caduta Massi, Lorne Guyland, and Terry Linex.
I was also fond of Terry Service in Success, which turns out to be the real name of one of Amis' sister's boyfriends.

My favourite exchange from the film version: Fletcher and The Governor are discussing the team of celebrities coming to Slade prison to play in a football match.

Herrick Schnexnayder, from Martin Amis' Money. Fielding Goodney is also in that novel.

Want stripin', do ya?

I heard about this film for years before I saw it, so that certain scenes - especially the pool balls in the sock - existed in my imagination before my memory. Still to this day, when I think of the pool ball scene, I see the one I imagined, not the real one.

One Track Mind.
