There was some plot a while back involving one of the old guys getting mad at some kids playing basketball and trying to arrange for a meteorite to be dropped on the basketball court.

Last year there was a Sally Forth Sunday strip that began "A screaming comes across the sky."
I really liked Andre's verse on the otherwise super-skeevy "Dedication to My Ex" (the one where Lloyd says "pussy" like 50 times).
I love that alternate "Take Ecstasy With Me," though it was one of the first songs of theirs I heard.
Props for Colonel Blimp
An instantly memorably device, and also a rather heartbreaking one - the idea that between wars, that's all there is for him, he's just marking time until he can get back into uniform.
I've been meaning to hear that Diddy album
The Diddy-bashing just seems so old hat. And the "I hate that song!" bits are hilarious (I think Jay-Z co-wrote the song). Honestly, I think it's kinda nice to have a top 40 hit that's so old-fashioned in its style of lyricism and storytelling. So what if Diddy isn't…
Beyond the Valley of the Ultrahits
awesome album
There's a Kipling story that basically spells out the ideas behind American Gods, including the phrase "England is a bad place for gods." Gaiman's mentioned loving the story (Weland's Sword), but it never really gets brought up as an influence.
"Positively 4th Street" is an awesome song but the line about "if I were a master thief perhaps I'd rob them" is terrible and included only to rhyme with "it's not my problem."
Such a great movie
I love how it becomes increasingly clear that the "hero" has done nothing worthwhile at all, and has in fact caused the deaths of an ever-growing number of people.
TICKLISH REUBEN
It makes me a little sad
to see Goodie Mob reduced to cameo appearances with Cee-lo. Nothing against him, he's got a great voice, and he should do what makes him happy/money, but his current output just seems a little lightweight. And the first couple Goodie Mob albums have this feeling of heaviness and importance;…
The "I had my throat cut etc" is less badass and more whiny and self-pitying; I mean, how many ways could Wesley have avoided the situation that arose if he didn't have all his stupid issues? It's not like he's a blameless victim. Great character, but not exactly one whose every move I cheer on.
man I love the Clean
I saw them in 2007 at this Dunedin retrospective thing, and these middle-aged trio blasting the fuck out of "Getting Older" and "Point That Thing Somewhere Else" was one of the greatest things ever.
Palace Brothers - Riding
I love my sister Lisa most of all.
Moomins are brilliant, the last couple books barely even qualify as children's lit, they're more like sparse existential drama but with cute little trolls.
The long prison conversation
It's all taken from the Grand Inquisitor chapter of the Brothers Karamazov, in which Jesus returns to Earth and begins performing miracles, and is immediately arrested by the Inquisition. And the Inquisitor argues that man will give up his freedom willingly to be fed and clothed, ending…

"Weland's Sword," the opening story in Rudyard Kipling's Puck of Pook's Hill. It's mostly stories from British history, linked together by the character of Puck.
