As much as I miss Nicole Krauss, I think that gimmick had gone as far as it was going to go and whoever was running it retired it at the right time on the right note.

Children of God is as good an entry point as any. They've made albums that are more concise, more consistent and more definitive and/or epic as artistic statements, but CoG is a good representation of the band, with traces of both their early and later periods.
