I'm guessing you mean the 87 shows and I agree with you that the Water's shows are better from that time. I always felt that even edge of Gilmour's guitar sound diminished post- Water's Floyd and that was one of the culprits of lessening of was dynamic of the Floydian sound.

The recent live outing of David Gilmour from his On An Island tour had Dave, Rick Wright, and Phil Manzanera tearing it up on this song.  Watch the Blu-Ray to see how awesome it is.  A real delight for Rick to get back into great form before passing on.  He may be the most under-rated musician from a major band ever.

I think that the increasing absurdity in commercials is stemmed from that Space Ghost School.  Sometimes it works, sometimes no.  But I'm a Space Ghost fan through and through.
