"And if, like me, you’ve been listening with balled fists, it’s the moment you begin to unclench—to begin to long to feel that way again, or just to feel anything at all." Nice, O'Neal. Thanks for writing this.

I'm pretty sure it closed about a year ago. There's still one in Anaheim.

I thought Sophtware Slump and Sumday were both very good. Under the Western Freeway and Fambly Cat didn't do anything for me.

The commerce clause doesn't provide the only avenue for congressional regulation. The 5th and 14th amendment due process and equal protection clauses might apply, the confrontation clause might apply, possibly others.

That's my favorite post 2000 Springsteen song, and it's in my top 10 of all of his songs. In a catalogue full of songs celebrating the redemptive power of music, "Mary's Place" stands out for describing heaven as a house party your loved ones can find by following the sound of their favorite record.

I saw the Palladium show in New York on September 21 that year. Sam and Dave and the Undertones opened. Still a high point of my concert-going life.

Wrong Em Boyo, English Civil War, Revolution Rock, Gates of the West, Stay Free, Janie Jones, Bankrobber, Cheapskates ("you think the cocaine's flowing like a river up our noses …"), White Man In Hammersmith Palais, Straight to Hell, Garageland, Guns of Brixton, Charlie Don't Surf, Hitsville UK, the one about the

I bought New Values in some sort of budget priced combo package with Soldier and when I copied it to CD I skipped "The Endless Sea" and "Curiousity" from New Values and added "Get Up and Get Out" and "I Snub You" from Soldier. It's pretty much the perfect Iggy album as far as I'm concerned.

He's not Mickey Mao, he's Mousey Tung.

Stay Positive has "One For the Cutters." That and "Joke About Jamaica" are reason enough to keep it.

I saw Brian Wilson and Al Jardine performing "Pet Sounds" two weeks ago at the Del Mar Fair in San Diego. He's lost several steps since the last time I saw him five or so years ago. He's talking most of the lyrics and staring off into space most of the time. Also his band isn't quite what it was. Key member Darian

I think she's required to collaborate with Wayne Coyne at some point.

My vote for most soul-crushing Springsteen lyric:
"The highway is alive tonight. Nobody's kiddin' nobody about where it goes." From "The Ghost of Tom Joad."

Just the chorus of "Blue Sofas" from the Better Luck album should have made them legends.

I'd add "Here Comes the Weekend" as another good one, but other than that and the songs you listed there's not much there.

I liked "Money-Go-Round" but was mostly indifferent to the rest of it. The Beat Surrender EP started me listening to Curtis Mayfield and soul music in the same way Elvis Costello's "Almost Blue" led me to George Jones and classic country.
