I think it's worth pointing out that it's only half a change, though. The book scene was a Straw Dogs-esque "no, stop it, no no no… yes… oh god yes" kind of thing. Icky sexual politics there. The show pretty much stopped after "no no no."

His frustration at Howard is a repeated note the show has played, but most of the explicit "Raj is such a girl" jokes were still very much just standard sitcom jokes, as was the "swordfighting" bit at the end.
