Same here, I never got that complaint about ASoIaF and I hear it all the time.  It must be the endless feast sequences.  Definitely wanted to try some of those dishes, though!

I liked the Megamorphs novels like the Hork-Bajir one and the one about the god-alien the best (as well as all of the ones narrated by Ax and Tobias, since they were my favorites).   I think that getting away from Earth let her go crazy and tell some really compelling stories.

I've been using the AFI and Sight & Sound lists to attempt to fill some of the major gaps in my knowledge of film history, which just in the past year or so has led to me seeing The Godfather, The Third Man, Citizen Kane, Chinatown, Dr. Strangelove, Goodfellas, and all of Sergio Leone's westerns for the fist time.
