Yeah, generally it seems like shows either are cancelled before they get the chance to build an audience over time, or it just doesn't happen as often as it did before. Could Seinfeld with its awful rating for the first few seasons happened today? I doubt it.

Regarding your comments about the Pirates series: I really loved the first one, but the next two were just boring to me. Could've easily trimmed both those films down without losing anything and the energy from the first film was just not there.
