A site redesign?
When is this happening? Or is that privileged info?
Sadly…
I saw They Might be Giants when they were touring colleges for their "Factory Showroom" album and about 50 people showed up. I think they took offense to the turnout, as they played barely an hour without an encore or even an iota of enthusiasm. Every time I've seen them since has been rawkin', however.
I'm thinking it was just bad writing.
Considering there were a few scenes without Sam in them that were a little hacky, I'm leaning towards this episode just being a little more lazily written then the last two.
Newspaper Ads
Keith, I too used to look at newspaper and video box art as a kid; my mind conjuring up movies that were far more terrifying than they actually were. "Return to Horror High" and "Creepshow" come to mind immediately. (Only "Creepshow" was actually really good)
Confession Time
The best show I ever went to?
Try "Reaper Man", it's still plenty funny, but treats Death a little more seriously than his other books.
Exactly why I made up the rule.
I would read this…
But it would totally violate my "No books about bored Yugoslavians" rule.
Kenley's Mom
Did anyone notice that Kenley's mom was really Amy Sedaris in one of her disguises?
Aw c'mon,
Saying Guy Ritchie made a good movie is like saying Sarah Palin won the debate because she spoke in complete coherent sentences.
"Homeless Video Store Employee"
When you say "Video Store Employee", the word "Homeless" is implied.
I love the library too, but it can be a chore getting new releases.
I'll have to read Blood Meridian then. It'll be interesting to see if I like it better. If thats the case, I'll have to go through my copy of "The Road" with a pen and write the punctuation in myself. Maybe I'll even like it better!
Thanks for the suggestions.
Never read Roth…
I've wanted to, but I'm afraid he's fallen into the same stock as Cormac McCarthy for me. He strikes me as one of these authors I'll pick up based on his reputation generated by critics and other authors as one of the greatest living writers. Then I'll actually read the damn book and be left…
Met him at a signing…
Neil Gaiman is probably the Tim Gunn of literature. The guy just oozes class and was very gracious and kind to each of the people that came to his signing/reading.
My favorite Sarah Vowell essay.
It's a tie between the one where she talks about how Al Gore would have won the election if only he admitted he was a nerd, and the one where she justifies watching and enjoying movies like "The Perfect Storm". (I believe they're in the same book).
Leaves only the fresh scent of pine!
Cheer up guys!
Heroes may have been awful last night, but at least tonight we have a new episode of "Fringe" to be disappointed in!
