That was how I thought the last scene was going to pan out - Barney standing there with it in his hand, removing all thoughts of doubt in her head.

I could almost forgive the dreadfully unfunny laser tag stuff and the cloying scenes between Robin and Ted (seriously what is the point in this - we have seen scenes set in the future of Barney & Robin's wedding, we know it's going to happen) for one scene - gorilla sex.
I think Peggy's reaction may have been a combination of a whole host of things - Don returning into her life, reuniting with old friends, how this could impact on any potential relationship with Ted, what her future will be with the new merged company…
She was with Duck when JFK was shot, is it going to be Ted's turn when Bobby goes?
That was exactly my thought when I was watching it.
I have just watched the episode, haven't read the comments yet but for 46 minutes there the reservations I had about this season were completely forgotten. This was one of the most entertaining, dramatic, funny and rewarding episodes the show has ever produced.
I am sitting here trying to think of something positive to say about this episode but I'm struggling. I guess the early Annie stuff was OK, raised a smile.
I think you are being slightly harsh in the review. I thought the main story had some genuine laugh out loud moments, 99% of the time thanks to Newhart's wonderful delivery.
I didn't expect a Glasgow v Edinburgh verbal battle in this thread but its welcome nonetheless.
Yeah I really wasn't enjoying that scene until Stan got a fit of the giggles.
I wasn't entirely feeling this episode right up to the conversation Don and Megan had on the bed, it was a powerfully emotive speech from a clearly struggling Don. The other highlight is Peggy and Abe's relationship, her delight at his hint towards their long term future was wonderful. It was surprising to have a…
Have to admit I had to look her up on the net, no idea who or what he was referring to.
Nope, sorry this episode fell flat for me. Mainly because it only served to highlight the sheer pointlessness of Troy and Britta's relationship from its very start to conclusion. The dean impersonating Jeff was decent enough but overall there were very few laughs.
Bit off topic but you Americans don't half spin out your TV shows, this series feels like it's been going on forever - seems to be random breaks every few weeks.
So will this new project be called The People's Front of AV Club?
Plenty of interesting things going on in this episode - the double Heinz pitch, Harry growing some balls, Joan's struggle to exert authority with her new found power. But I found the majority of Megan's scenes to be rather unfulfilling and thinly written compared to the others.
Wouldn't that be "chunky symbolism"?
You're out of your element.
Children of Men is a film which just gets better ad better with every viewing. Outstanding.
I'll leave the toolbox cause I'm fucking clueless when it comes to DIY.
